I Need You for Good

Bismillah

Hello there! Selamat datang di seri belajar bahasa Inggris. Saya sudah posted dua seri sebelumnya disini. Kali ini saya ingin membahas idiom. Idiom apa ya?

For Good

Idiom for good bisa diartikan dengan permanently; forever atau kalau dalam bahasa Indonesia, sama dengan “selamanya”.

Untuk lebih jelasnya, bisa dilihat dalam contoh berikut ini:

1. One of my students named Alena is returning to her hometown for good. She  is not going back to Salatiga. She doesn’t plan to return to Salatiga. So I could say to her, “Ale, are you coming back to Salatiga?” then she replied, “No, Ma’am. I’m going home for good”.

That means she’s going there permanently.

2. Andrew loves Indonesia and wants to stay here for good (= he loves the country and he wants to stay there permanently; forever).

Nah, ada satu lirik lagu yang memakai idiom ini.

Whatever I said, whatever I did

I didn’t mean it

I just want you back for good

(Want you back, want you back, want you back for good)

Yep, lagu dari Take That yang judulnya Back for Good.

That’s it. Now, can you use it in your own sentence?

Smell you later alligator!

Barakallahu fiik
